Along with Westcombe, Pitchfork, and Montgomery’s, Keen's is one of the last traditional raw milk artisan Somerset Cheddars. This is due to the fact the criteria are so much stricter than those for West Country Farmhouse Cheddars. The production process uses raw untreated milk from their grass-fed herd, with pint starters rather than powder, traditional animal rennet, and a clothbound maturation of at least 12 months.

The result is a strong, tangy cheddar with a mellow depth of flavour, occasionally blueing throughout. A standout traditional cheddar that is keeping its place firmly in the classic cheese world.

Delivery is FREE and it comes in a climate control box (the only in the industry) that comes with a 48 hour freshness guarantee. If that wasn't enough, we also add an insert that will talk you through the info on the cheeses, tasting notes and a scorecard to help you make the very most of your festive cheesegeek delivery.

During checkout, you will be able to select your preferred delivery date. This is great if you're buying as a gift or are organising your cheese in advance. The cheese will be packed in chilled, insulated boxes (that look great!) and will always be prepared on the day it is dispatched. A few other handy pointers:

- We use DHL nationwide and Packfleet within the M25

- Please use the delivery date you have selected as a guide rather than a guarantee.

- Your cheese will arrive in the best condition. It will have been prepared freshly and will not have been with our courier beyond our maximum of 48hrs

- You will receive delivery notifications for when your order is dispatched that mean you can track when it’s in transit

If you aren’t in for your delivery, this won’t matter. Our couriers will leave your cheese in you designated safe place in our climate controlled packaging.

We’re a small business working with an (incredible) perishable product. For advice on delivery or any cheesy questions, get in touch via the live chat or on hello@thecheesegeek.com

Meet the Maker

The Keen family have been making cheddar since 1898! Now in their fifth generation, they're one of only 4 dairies left making traditional cheddar from unpasteurised, cow's milk from their own farm. Today, son James is continuing his family's farmhouse cheddar legacy!
