• The Cheese Geek Sparkenhoe Red Leicester

cg top tip: When it is younger, a light drizzle of honey is really lovely...as it ages, plum jam works really well, with a red wine that also has those cherry, plum, even dark chocolate vibes.

Sparkenhoe Red Leicester is a classic territorial cheese, made by Jo and David Clarke and is the only raw milk Red Leicester still made in Leicestershire, to the original recipe from centuries ago. This is what makes this cheese completely unique. It’s the first of it’s kind to be produced on the Sparkenhoe Farm since 1875, and is so far removed from mass-produced Red Leicester you might find in a supermarket. This cheese has an incredible depth of flavour – it’s nutty and buttery but with that slight farmy/meaty/brothy flavour that you wouldn’t find in a mass produced Red Leicester. The vibrant orange/red colour comes from the addition of natural colouring Annatto to the curds during production of the cheese. It is then clothbound, rubbed in lard and then matured on the farm’s beech shelves for 18 months. A winner in cheese toasties!

Delivery is FREE and it comes in a climate control box (the only in the industry) that comes with a 48 hour freshness guarantee. If that wasn't enough, we also add an insert that will talk you through the info on the cheeses, tasting notes and a scorecard to help you make the very most of your festive cheesegeek delivery.

During checkout, you will be able to select your preferred delivery date. This is great if you're buying as a gift or are organising your cheese in advance. The cheese will be packed in chilled, insulated boxes (that look great!) and will always be prepared on the day it is dispatched. A few other handy pointers:

- We use DHL nationwide and Packfleet within the M25

- Please use the delivery date you have selected as a guide rather than a guarantee.

- Your cheese will arrive in the best condition. It will have been prepared freshly and will not have been with our courier beyond our maximum of 48hrs

- You will receive delivery notifications for when your order is dispatched that mean you can track when it’s in transit

If you aren’t in for your delivery, this won’t matter. Our couriers will leave your cheese in you designated safe place in our climate controlled packaging.
