Artisan cheese is so much more than just food. It is the most magical, nostalgic, emotional product that often forms the soundtrack to some of our most important memories and experiences. A wedding, Christmas, celebration or holiday, so often cheese is the centrepiece.

We want to share some of these real, personal stories with you, and the cheeses that made them.

We couldn’t be more excited to be launching The Martha, a selection of 5 artisan, British cheeses selected personally by Martha Collison (Great British Bake Off, Food Columnist and Presenter extraordinaire) that have meant something special to her over the years. From her wedding day to lazy Sundays spent at Borough Market, these are the 5 cheeses that are special to her, that she wanted to share with you!

*Box update: we've had a run on Eve and our stock has completely dried up! The Martha will now be 4 cheeses, but 200g of each.

The Martha contains 4 cheeses, chosen by Martha Collison, with a total of 850g. The cheeses are as follows:

  • Quicke's Elderflower Cheddar (200g)
  • Sparkenhoe Red Leicester (200g)
  • Rollright (250g)
  • Stichelton (200g)

Also included is Martha's recipe for Salted honey rolls with baked Rollright, as well as tasting notes, pairing tips and scorecard.

Delivery Information Close Icon for Delivery Drawer

During checkout, you will be able to select your preferred delivery date. This is great if you're buying as a gift or are organising your cheese in advance. The cheese will be packed in chilled, insulated boxes (that look great!) and will always be prepared on the day it is dispatched. A few other handy pointers:

- We use DHL nationwide and Packfleet within the M25

- Please use the delivery date you have selected as a guide rather than a guarantee.

- Your cheese will arrive in the best condition. It will have been prepared freshly and will not have been with our courier beyond our maximum of 48hrs

- You will receive delivery notifications for when your order is dispatched that mean you can track when it’s in transit

If you aren’t in for your delivery, this won’t matter. Our couriers will leave your cheese in you designated safe place in our climate controlled packaging.

We’re a small business working with an (incredible) perishable product. For advice on delivery or any cheesy questions, get in touch via the live chat or on hello@thecheesegeek.com

Martha's Five

Quicke's Elderflower Cheddar

More

Mary Quicke is a total inspiration in the cheese world (and to me!) and I’ll never forget a tour of her farm where she and I sat in a field of her cows and talked about the wonders of milk. Quicke’s make all manner of delicious cheddars, but I’ve chosen their elderflower variety as it is so unique, and tastes like home, as my parents live just up the road.

Sparkenhoe Red Leicester

More

When my husband and I got married in 2019, we knew cheese absolutely had to feature on the wedding menu. Our evening food was hot cheese toasties of two varieties: the Bride and the Groom! My choice, the Bride, was a powerful mix of Red Leicester amongst other British cheeses, and Sparkenhoe is the best red Leicester around, so it has to be included in my ultimate selection. Try it in a toastie!

Rollright

More

When I was 17, my first ever job was working on the Waitrose cheese counter. I relished learning about (and tasting) all the cheeses, and my top pick that I used to recommend to anyone who would listen was seasonal Vacherin, a French soft cheese wrapped in spruce bark. I discovered the British version, Rollright, a few years ago, and it rocked my world (and is available year round!).

Stichelton

More

I’ll never forget the moment I first tried this unpasteurised blue cheese in Borough Market whilst doing my favourite Sunday afternoon activity: wandering and eating. It is similar to Stilton but cannot be named as such as Stilton has a fiercely protected PDO to a select few dairies. The subtle bluing makes it a great entry level blue cheese, and is one that will convert those who claim not to be blue-cheese lovers!

Exclusive Martha Collison Recipe

This tear and share bread is the perfect party centrepiece, with soft sweet rolls nestled together around a beautiful molten cheese. Rollright is a washed rind soft cheese surrounded by spruce bark, similar in style to a French Reblochon. It’s got a rich, buttery flavour with smokey, woody notes, and works perfectly with honey!
