Domaine Rion really is all about family. Founded in 1896 by Pierre Rion, the former sharecropper of the Château de la Berchère who had acquired the Château’s vines. His son Louis succeeded him, and during his time, he substantially enlarged the Domaine. In 1952, the Domaine was divided between his 2 sons. The oldest, Marcel Rion, further enlarged the Domaine and stayed in Vosne Romanée. Bernard Rion has helped his father since 1973 and now manages the Domaine with his wife Armelle and his daughter Alice. Since 2006, Alice makes the wines with Bernard, so she can inherit all of his winemaking wisdom.

Alice’s husband Louis was next to join the Domaine in 2010. In 2015, Nelly, the elder of 3 girls of Armelle and Bernard, came back to the Domaine to work with the marketing. In 2018, it’s the turn of Melissa to join the domain. A great family history five generations in the making!

All hand-picked grapes are fermented in cement tanks before being aged in French oak barrels from 10 to 15 months. Such a scrumptious wine bursting at the seems with red fruits, we think this is one of the most food friendly Burgundy's around!

Our house wine selection has been curated with Humble Grape. We're big believers that the importance of great wine when it comes to great cheese cannot be understated, and as such have selected these wines after hours and hours of scrutiny (and fun), to be all rounders for pairing with our cheese.

Delivery is not only free, and not only at a set day of your choosing, but also comes in a padded climate control box (the only in the industry) that comes with a 48 hour freshness guarantee.

If that wasn't enough, we also add an insert that will talk you through the info on the wines and cheeses, tasting notes and a scorecard to help you make the very most of your cheesegeek delivery!Í

During checkout, you will be able to select your preferred delivery date. This is great if you're buying as a gift or are organising your cheese in advance. The cheese will be packed in chilled, insulated boxes (that look great!) and will always be prepared on the day it is dispatched. A few other handy pointers:

- We use DHL nationwide and Packfleet within the M25

- Please use the delivery date you have selected as a guide rather than a guarantee.

- Your cheese will arrive in the best condition. It will have been prepared freshly and will not have been with our courier beyond our maximum of 48hrs

- You will receive delivery notifications for when your order is dispatched that mean you can track when it’s in transit

If you aren’t in for your delivery, this won’t matter. Our couriers will leave your cheese in you designated safe place in our climate controlled packaging.

We’re a small business working with an (incredible) perishable product. For advice on delivery or any cheesy questions, get in touch via the live chat or on hello@thecheesegeek.com
